Hello lovelies,

Sorry for the NO updates, but summer happened! I have also been busy traveling a bit and revamping my fashion styling portfolio. Last night I worked with a great team! Thanks so much to Luis, Warren, Julia, Rodney and Erin for their hard work. The entire shoot was captured live for BlogTV and we had a blast. It was great to get instant feedback from all the viewers. I am super excited about the images we created and cannot wait to show all of you the fruits of our labor.

How do we love Kain, Let us count the ways…

These slinky, laid back tees by Amanda Kain are versatile, super soft, and a hot commodity among young Hollywood Starlets. A classic wardrobe staple gets a lesson in seduction in clingy silk and cotton blends. The semi-sheer fabric permits a coy hint at what’s underneath resulting in understated sex appeal. I'm more than a little obsessed with Philip Lim, and this season's collection does nothing to dissuade my infatuation. There's so much beauty and inspiration in the unique nuances Philip Lim is so adept at employing--I can't get enough of those unexpected elements. The collection is a beautiful contradiction of vintage and modern, anchored by navy, olive and maroon. Silhouettes from eras past duet with thoughtful details and pretty patterns that shine in striking colors. What I like about it: I can wear most of the pieces anywhere and never feel that I am over or under dressed.

Must Have (Besides, everything!): The Origami Trimmed Coat -Stunning in its simplicity! I love the gorgeous geometric print and the subtle military influence. This is a great piece because is suitable for both day and evening.

Bienvenue to Version Two

Hi Everyone!

Though I'm never fond of seeing summer go, I am really looking forward to autumn and of course, shopping! Fall is my favorite shopping season; I love all the chunky knits and rich weighty fabrics. (And the wonderful accessories that accompany them!) I also like the versatility of layering, and the way a great coat can breathe new life into old attire. What is on your wish list for fall? My list is miles long as you might imagine, but a pretty pair of gray boots is at the top of the queue along with: a leather pencil skirt, maroon stockings, a jewel tone cocktail dress and a fabulous statement coat…or two.

Why olive is currently my favorite neutral

There's nothing I find more thrilling than helping people develop their signature style. At my initial assessment with a client, I ask one of the most basic questions—“What are some of your favorite colors [to wear]?” No one has ever said olive! It's no secret that the verdant hue doesn't have the most glamorous reputation. Admittedly, my first word associations with the color were, army, “Oyl” (as in Popeye's skinny girlfriend) and turtle. Albeit, I have a feeling the mossy tone will emerge to become an essential color this autumn. Try using olive as a substitute for your more familiar neutrals to give your wardrobe a lift. Knock all those little black dresses out of the water at your next cocktail party in an exquisite sequined mini. I just love a dress that makes an equally amazing entrance and exit. If you prefer smaller doses, olive also makes an excellent garnish. A great satchel is the perfect anchor for fall and winter 08's jewel tones, namely berries. Shoes in the tone also make an impact! I adore these utilitarian but sweet mary-janes; they will add striking contrast to a key fall trend-ruffles! The gorgeous L.A.M.B. sandals look great paired with just about anything and come in three collectable colors. The zipper details are really stunning, aren't they? Pair them with black tights and a tailored coat in chillier months. I'm such a fan of Michael Kors' winter boot collections. I invest in a pair every year, and these will do double duty navigating the city comfortably in snow and rain. The best thing about these boots is how cozy they are! You won't want to take them off all season long. So that is my ode to olive, I hope you will give the color a chance and invest in smart pieces that will enhance your existing wardrobe. The possibilities are endless, and the best part is you can start with smaller pieces to compliment existing pieces in your closet.

Why I like it: It's green without the naïveté. It's softer than black, warmer than gray and has a bit more personality than brown. What to look for: Women-Unique detailing and feminine nuances make the color feel modern and chic. Military influences are a given with this shade so look for subtle references to avoid looking like you're wearing a costume. What to look for: Men-Unexpected textures such as mohair and treated leathers. Try an olive fedora on for size or pair a chunky knit sweater with rich browns for an updated look. Avoid head to toe olive unless you're enlisted.

Designer Cody Ross proves that fashion and finance is a winning combination

In his West Village townhouse cum-atelier, creative force Cody Ross recalls his earliest fashion memory: “Dressing in punk-rock gear when I was 6 or 7 for Halloween and not taking it off till I was out of college…lots of spikes, and tons of red and orange hair dye” he laughs “Actually, I still do that today.”

It's not exactly what you'd expect from someone with a BSc from the London School of Economics, but Ross is full of surprises. After working for years in Asia as a financial analyst, he decided to make a drastic career change. “The temptation to remove myself from the structures and routine became too strong.” Influenced to finally follow his passion, he studied pattern-construction and design in London and fine-tuned his skills with designer Ly Minh Khong of Denmark before returning to the states to launch his ‘directional' fashion line in late 2007.

Financial analyst and designer may seem like an odd mix to some, “[but] fashion and finance actually have a lot of overlap,” the designer insists. It's no wonder Ross is a fan of quirky combinations. Within a mere two seasons, Priestess NYC has managed several glowing mentions in major fashion publications and is quietly amassing a following of actors, musicians and super-models.

In a whirlwind of accomplishments, the modest designer is wary of the fickle fashion industry. “ Fashion is by definition ephemeral. I'm hesitant to say that I'm successful at it. I'm so glad we have bright sunny days again, aren't you? Finally I can come out of hibernation mode! In honor of my re-emergence into the world, I present you with one of my favorite foolproof looks: The tried and true “t-shirt, jacket, skirt” combo. Keep the key pieces simple and you can easily create a myriad of looks by simply changing the accessories. For this look, I chose a fitted gray leather jacket, a silk skirt in a rich color, a t-shirt with an unusual graphic, and used a printed scarf and a fun bright shoe to liven up the muted tones and add visual interest. Don't you adore the super-hero doodle on the Luella T? Speaking of adoration, I am smitten with this Mike & Chris jacket. Not only will it stave off the late evening chill, it also adds structure to the silhouette and compliments the pretty orange Ruthie Davis mary-janes fabulously. Can you tell I like dresses? I’m sorry for obsessing over dresses so much, I’ll work on keeping things a bit more diverse.This t-shirt dress is the perfect blend of ethereal and elegant sophisticate-- what a beautiful body accentuating shape. I want this dress in my life!

Sometimes its best just to keep things simple, so that’s what I did here by adding a large black patent purse, I anchor the outfit and counterbalance the dainty fabric the dress. The shoes compliment, but don’t overwhelm in a light metallic shade while adding a bit of glamor to the overall look as does the Kenneth Jay Lane pendant necklace. Also of note, I own these shoes and they are the most comfortable pair of heels I have even though they’re a little over four inches. I wear them out all night long and my feet don’t hurt. :-]

I admit, I’m a bit obsessed with yellow at this point…I had to edit my yellow choices. :) Also, sorry but I don’t really believe in wearing flats right now. I love my stilettos. In the designer collage, the white wide leg Michael Kors jeans keep everything very modern and fresh looking as does the unique white necklace by Malene Birger. The pretty silk chiffon Malandrino blouse adds a beautiful pop of color to the wardrobe. You can wear this top with so much. The cream patent trench by Philip Lim is a great addition to the set, and adds a polished final touch to every look. The round toe, black Louboutin pumps are perfect to wear with everything.

In the trendy collage, the Soia and Kyo trench coat is both classic and contemporary. I couldn’t help but order it, I love it so much! The Anlo dark denim trousers have the perfect amount of stretch and look great dressed up or down. The super cute yellow mini dress by Karta adds a wonderful pop of color. I love the versatility of the dress—wear it layered over a thin gray turtleneck with tights and boots until it gets warmer. The Tiger bracelet by Kenneth Jay Lane is the perfect fashion forward signature piece I’ve been craving. Speaking of cravings, the Belle by Sigerson Morrison metallic wedges are so beautiful—they’ll look great with all your dresses as well as jeans. Yellow! After a four day battle with the dreaded influenza, I emerge victorious and bearing shiny new gifts! The Golden Days or Les Beaux Jours, a painting from 1944 by Balthus inspires today's posting. As I peruse the Spring 2008 shows, I'm delighted by all the bright colors splashed across the runway. During my research, I have developed a particular fondness for yellow. What a happy color. Karta has the best vintage inspired prints and manages to flawlessly make the old new again by designing classic silhouettes with modern nuances. Happy Valentine's Day

I think this outfit is very fashion forward. The lemon top by Madison Marcus (worn by Eva Mendes) looks beautiful under the gorgeous distressed metallic jacket by Mike & Chris. I am absolutely in love with the jacket, it’s just darling! Pair the top and the jacket with a pair of high-waist jeans in a dark rinse by Grey Ant. The Anya Hindmarch metallic bag is the perfect compliment to the ensemble as are the amazing L.A.M.B. pumps. The stunning turquoise ring is a great looking signature piece and contrasts well with the top.

This outfit is simply stylish. I love the fit of the cardigan and aren't these the prettiest green shoes you've ever seen? Notify makes great figure flattering jeans and this pair of wide legs will have you looking very long and lean. The oversized Miu Miu tote is so pretty, I had to include it. I just love the gold hardware and ruched handle. The top strap is detachable. I kept the accessories minimal, a sleek pair of crescent shaped hoops, the lion head pendant and a gold ring with multi colored stones. The shoes are definitely the focal point of this ensemble. You probably want to layer a cami or cute tee under the cardigan, but I will leave the choice up to you. I hope you enjoy today's outfit. Happy shopping!

Shop smart this upcoming season with Queen of Preen's forecast on the hottest fashion trends for 2008. This upcoming season, fashions is all about statement making. Bold prints and fabrics were all over the runways as were bright colors and figure flattering waist belts.

I'm here to share with you my favorite trends for Spring and Summer of 2008 to help you get a head start on all the shopping you'll surely want to do when you see these fabulous looks. Let's start with one of my favorite trends, bold prints!

1. Bold Prints. Inspired by birds of paradise and fields of wild flowers, these beautiful prints are the staple of the Spring 2008 season. Look for long dresses and flowing fabrics.

2. Waist Belts. Enhancing your curves (or creating some!) is a cinch with this trend. Wear them over everything, from a chunky sweater mini dress, to your coat—the possibilities are endless and the belt will

serve as great polish for any outfit while making your waist look ultra tiny. In warmer months pair them with bright mini dresses and juicy couture tee shirts for a look that's stylish anytime.

3.Brights. Hot Pink, Yellow, Electric Blue and Orange are the colors to wear when you want to make a big statement this Spring. Pair with neutrals and sleek metallic accessories for a look that's bold, but not overwhelming.

4.Hippie Chick. This trend is all love. Embody the spirit of this of the 1960's and express yourself with intricately dyed prints and clashing fabrics on loose fitting frocks with feminine touches.

5.Heavy Metal. Metallic Shades and metal accented clothes equal hot signature pieces and you'll find the details everywhere, from a cuff bracelet to knee high boots. A little of this trend goes a long way and is great for showcasing tough and daring style.

6.Lingerie Inspired. Sweet peeks of lace and satin details were all over the Spring 2008 runways. These feminine touches add a pretty touch to any ensemble. Try slipping a deconstructed vintage slip over a sleek James Perse turtleneck and pair with black stockings for a unique and haute look.

7.Jumpers. The 70's staple makes a new name for itself in modern silhouettes and sophisticated prints. Pair them with platform heels and large hoops for a look that's true to its seventies roots.

8.Goddess. This romantic Grecian inspired trend is back. Look for beautifully draped tops and dresses in surprising hues.

9.Trapeze. This shape, which made its presence known in fall is back again with flirty hemlines and in rich brocade fabrics. For instant style, pair a trapeze tunic top with leggings and flat boots.

10. Ombre Dying. Seen on all the major runways, this stunning process of dying fabrics subtly blends colors together in a beautiful pattern. This trend is very popular in dresses and accessories such as scarves,

jewelry, and shoes.

I really love the unique print of this dress, what a pretty way to do retro. The yellow, silver and cream are just lovely together don't you think? I decided to pair it with metallic accessories. I chose bronze to make the look fun. The filigree earrings are great; their pattern mimics the pattern in the fabric of the dress. Can you believe that they're only $2.80? The metallic belt sits high on your waist and will give the dress great shape. The boots are so great, I couldn't resist buying them for myself, (it's hard for me to resist a sale!) the only pitfall that comes with doing this website. Sorry for missing yesterday, I don't always get to post when I want to. To make up for it, I have three outfits! The looks are centered around one beautiful blouse by Cynthia Vincent. What a great way to brighten up your wardrobe, especially in the drear of fall and winter months. Your bright trendy purchases should get lots of mileage in your life.Think about how many ways you might wear something before buying it, especially with trendier pieces. This top is beautiful and practical. I like the graceful sleeves and the beautiful blue color of the silk material. You can wear the blouse in several different ways. Here are three from me that I hope you will love. For look one, tuck the blouse into the high waist pants. For look two: I wanted to leave one small note about the leggings. I chose those particular ones because of their semi sheerness and for the subtle metallic sheen. True, you can find leggings anywhere, but know that everything in these ensembles was chosen for a specific reason. For look three, wear the tunic loose and cinch it with the brown waist belt. Top it off with amazing gold pumps by Christian Louboutin. Enjoy and happy shopping!

An Island Escape

The trees are barely losing their leaves, and I’m already craving a tropical escape from winter. Here’s what I’d pack for a week on a beautiful island. When I pack, I try to pack light to make room for all the things I buy on the trip!) so I stick to a simple color palette. It’s very helpful, I highly recommend it!

Cozy up in this beautiful wool cardigan by Antik Batik. It's perfect for night strolls along the beach or for a ride through town on a rented Vespa. Speaking of beach, I adore both swimsuits so much. The two-piece one is reversible, and you can wear it several different ways. The one piece is an elegant laser cut number by Lenny swimwear in this season’s favorite fashion forward shade, grey.

Most of these items are mix and match, so have fun with your choices! I love the embroidery on the Max Studio skirt. An Affair of Lust

I have always loved the color fuchsia. Not pink so much, but FUCHSIA! When I was ten,I wore fuchsia socks every day for about a year. I loved coordinating them with a matching scrunchy and a tee-shirt. (I am so dating myself here.) As I’ve grown older, (and subsequently somewhat wiser in matters of fashion) I have learned that a little bit of certain colors can go a long way, but my lust for beautiful fuchsia things has yet to be sated. This dress is a perfect example of the power of color combined with a flawless fit.

Want to be noticed? Hands down this is the dress! Keep everything you pair with it simple and let this show stopping number be the fabulous star of the show. Please excuse the sacrilege, but my god it is jaw dropping! The 100% silk, hand embroidered butterflies and precious chiffon pleats, will have your heart all a flutter. Catherine Malandrino has this fantastic knack for designing gorgeous dresses with flirty and feminine details that fit and feel amazing. Make an equally sexy but subtle entrance in the bewitching black version. I could go on forever about the immense adoration I feel for this dress, but I’ll spare you my ravings for now. It's usually a good idea to pay close attention to the geometry of your outfits. I admire all the structural details of these garments and how they work together. I think in matters of shape, especially the exaggerated silhouettes of the season like the trapeze, it's important to look at balance. A great piece to give many outfits structure and balance is a cardigan or a sweater coat. No, not the ill-fitting one you keep slung over your office chair all year. Something that actually makes you feel great when you wear it! Which brings me to todays post. I love the new styles of cardigans I’ve been seeing.They're sexy and stylish but still very practical. Frump no more avid cardigan-wearers! No excuses. :) The long cardigan by Zac Posen shows you how truly decadent and beautiful knitwear can be. It’s a signature piece on it’s own, as is the lovely bow tied cardigan from Anthropologie. The gorgeous shade of green is perfect for those dreary days of trudging to work in frigid temperatures. The outfit I chose is simple yet chic, and very elegant. The bag is literally the cherry on top, and I love the racer-back blouse with its girly, yet sophisticated ruffles. It is definitely a potential new signature piece for my wardrobe. The True religion jeans had the exact slim fit I was looking for to complete this sleek look. This cardigan by DAY Birger et Mikkelsen is so adorable, I couldn’t resist making it a part of today’s post. It will add just the right amount of sweetness to a dark, glossy pair of waxed finished jeans or look equally smashing paired with a silk skirt and a charming pair of suede kitten heels. I just love it! I think you can wear all these cardigans dressed up or down, and have a blast with all the different combinations. The Long and Short of It

Addressing two of my favorite trends: the mini dress and the long dress.
I'm a big fan of these fashion forward, sophisticated looks. One is smooth and modern, the other fluid and eclectic. As my mood changes, so do my fashion choices. For the longer dress. the belt is perfect because it brings out the subtle golden hues in the dress and contrasts well with the stunning shade of indigo blue. Wear it empire style—just under your bust, to cover up the smocked portion of the dress. I really like the cutout design and think it will look great over lots of different things. I love both of these dresses so much and made the shoes sexy, and fun choices. I kept the accessories minimal. I like the delicate chain and the pretty colored leather button of the stylish, long necklace. I say for the cream mini dress, keep the neck bare for a beautiful display of your décolletage.

These “KRT”’s are great, I have them on right now actually.
If you’ve ever had trouble finding jeans that are long enough for you try this brand on for size. Their inseams average at least a 33” for most of their jeans. Another reason I love them is because they always seem to have the perfect color blends, amount of stretch, and they make me look like I actually have a butt. Even if you’re not tall and or leggy, these jeans just have a great fit. I get mine hemmed depending on which inseam they are. Don’t be afraid to get your jeans hemmed professionally, it’s SO worth it!

The Wedding Date

Sometimes (read: rarely), I get letters from lovely people that read the blog and would like an outfit styled for a specific occasion, here's a recent one and my response:

"Dear Queen,

I got invited to my ex boyfriend’s wedding. He’s marrying my ex- friend after only four months of dating. Of course, I want to look hot and I’m not so bitchy that I would wear white, but can you please help me? I’m running out of time. I want to look great for this wedding and it’s only a few weeks away and I don’t even have a date. The only thing I’m looking forward to is the open bar. By the way, the wedding is at sunset and is in Hawaii and I hate purple.

Let us try and look on the bright side: You’re going to sunny Hawaii, and you’re not a bridesmaid! Seriously though, the situation sounds awful, and I commend you on even attending the awkward and hasty nuptials.
